Half a point detracted for the terrible UI, and another half for the memory leak.Ĩ0% Xbox OneBorderlands first released in 2009 and developed by Gearbox Software can best be described as a fun and charming looter shooter. I only encountered 1 funny visual bug during my entire playthrough (a scythid stuck itself to my runner), and one time I accidentally clipped outside of the map when crashing into a transition area with my runner.

But other than those 3, this game's great. From what I can gather, the regular Game of the Year edition doesn't have this issue. It doesn't happen too often, but it's still quite irksome when it does. 3) The Enhanced edition has an annoying memory leak issue, which causes it to lag a lot after playing for a few hours. It's not all that big a deal (especially with the variety of grenade types in this game), but it is rather annoying to have them lob themselves across the room rather than somewhat near where I was aiming. All the Unreal Engine 3 games I've played have this issue. 2) The physics for throwing a grenade feels really off. The game does pause while it's open, but scrolling through a huge list of items is *really* annoying. It's just a big list of everything you have, and medkits are 1 step above the bottom of said list (and there's no "quick heal" hotkey). Now, onto the negatives: 1) The inventory UI is god awful. However, the main story doesn't scale alongside the player - so you'll be overleveled for most of it (but only by a bit, rather than the huge gap in something like Everspace 2). I got a good gun at level 10 or so, and used it up until 25). I'm generally not a fan of the genre, but the scaling here felt better than in other looter-shooters I've played (mainly because I could use the same gear for awhile rather than swapping it out every couple fights. The looter-shooter aspect is also fine too. The story is more of a backdrop than anything, but it's nice since you don't feel forced to go down a linear path. The gameplay is solid, the enemy AI is quite good (never saw anyone get stuck on the terrain and the like), and the quests are solid. This game's great in all but a few aspects. I played the Game of the Year Enhanced Edition on my first playthrough, but plan to do the regular Game of the Year version later on. The game also boasts lifelike character animations, impressive real-time physics, and customizable vehicles.90% PCOne of my friends has been asking me to buy this for awhile now, and I should've bought it earlier.
